Sherlock Holmes


Sherlock Holmes is a character created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. He referred Sherlock Homes as a consulting detective. Holmes is known for his proficiency with observation, forensic science and logical reasoning that borders on the fantastic, which he employs when investigating cases for a wide variety of clients, including Scotland Yard.

Most are narrated by the character of Holmes’s friend D. John H. Wotson, who usually accompanies Holmes during his investigations and often shares quarters with him at the address of 221B Baker Street, London, where many of stories begin.

First appearing print is “A Study in Scarlet” in 1887. The characters popularity became widespread with the first series of short stories in The Strand Magazine beginning with “A Strand in Bohemia” in 1891. It released until 1927 with additional tales. Eventually the total was 4 novels and 56 sort stories.

By the 1990’s there were already over 25000 stage adaptation, films, television productions and publication featuring the detective and the Guinness World Records list him as the portrayed human literary character in films and television history. He is not a fictional character among people but a real person.
